In-clinic teeth whitening in London with Philips Zoom!

Philips Zoom! Whitening is the number one worldwide patient-requested professional whitening brand. It can brighten smiles up to six shades in a single visit. Visit us in SW3 on your lunch break, or after you drop the kids at school, and leave with a dazzling smile sure to impress everyone you meet.

This treatment combines the instant results of the Philips Zoom! in-chair whitening, plus the Philips Zoom! at-home whitening kit for longer-lasting whiter teeth.

How does Philips Zoom! Teeth Whitening work?

As the pores of teeth enamel holding stains, many people experience discolouring or undesirable shades in their teeth. The dentist will protect your lips and gums with special covering and a unique hydrogen peroxide whitening gel. When activated by light, hydrogen peroxide helps to break down the molecular bonds making up stains on and in your teeth and allowing you to achieve up to 6 shades whiter teeth at the end of your session.

The intense light of the Philips Zoom WhiteSpeed Whitening LED Accelerator shining on the whitening gel makes the process work even faster, improving whitening results by as much as 40% compared to other LED lamps.

What is process for Philips Zoom! teeth whitening ?

  1. Free Consultation

Book a free whitening consultation to ensure your teeth and gums are in good health. During your consultation, we will conduct a comprehensive examination of your teeth and gums to ensure optimum health, as well as talk with you about your oral hygiene and lifestyle habits to determine if you will benefit from whitening.

During your consultation and evaluation, we will also note existing dental work, such as crowns and veneers, which will not respond to conventional whitening agents and may need to be replaced after you have completed your whitening treatment. We will also conduct a shade assessment to determine which shade we will be able to achieve during your whitening procedure. Impressions will also be made to create your custom-fitted whitening trays for home use.

  2. In-chair stage

The complete procedure takes approximately 2 hours and includes a comprehensive teeth cleaning followed by the Zoom! teeth whitening session.

    1. Comprehensive hygiene session.
    2. The teeth whitening procedure begins with a little preparation to cover the lips and gums, leaving the teeth exposed and protecting the soft tissue.
    3. The clinician then applies the Zoom! hydrogen peroxide whitening gel, which works together with the Zoom! light to penetrate the teeth and break up stains and discolouration. The gel remains in place for 15 minutes while the light is activated. During this time, you can relax, watch Netflix or listen to music at your request.
    4. The gel is then applied for four, 15-minute sessions and activated by our Philips Zoom! whitespeed in-surgery light. Individuals with a strong gag reflex or anxiety may have difficulty undergoing the entire procedure. Immediately afterwards, a sensitivity-reducing gel is applied to the teeth.
    5. Once the four sessions have been completed, a further shade assessment is carried out to compare the improvement in colour and you will go home with a brighter, whiter smile - all in just one visit.
  3. Take-home whitening top-up

You will be given a Philips Zoom! home-use touch-up kit that includes custom-fitted whitening trays and instructions for when and how to use this touch-up kit. We will show you how to fit, wear and clean your whitening trays, and correctly apply your trays with the prescribed Philips Zoom! whitening gel.

To help maintain the whitening effects of your treatment, your dentist may advise you to avoid certain foods and beverages or consume them in moderation to avoid staining your teeth. This includes tea, coffee, red wine, colas, etc.

Additionally, tobacco products will stain teeth, even after whitening treatments. As such, your dentist will suggest you quit using them. Keep up an appropriate oral hygiene routine (brushing and interdental cleaning) regimen to maintain your brighter smile, and see your dentist and hygienist regularly for scheduled teeth cleanings.

Is Teeth Whitening Painful or Dangerous ?

There is no health risk to the client with properly supervised, professional teeth whitening. However, sensitivity during the treatment may occur in some people. The heat produced by the Zoom! light is usually the source of most people’s discomfort, but it is minimal. If you do experience discomfort during the procedure, the intensity of the light can be reduced. Rarely, minor tingling is experienced immediately after the procedure but this always dissipates.

As with other whitening products, Zoom! is not recommended for children under 16 years of age, or for pregnant or lactating women, those with teeth sensitivity or allergic to bleaching agents like peroxide. Also, people with dental conditions such as tooth decay, gum disease and others will only be able to do the teeth whitening after dental concerns are resolved.

It is also important to remember that whitening treatment may not be as effective for some people as it is for others. We will be able to determine if teeth whitening is right for you after your initial whitening consultation.
