General Dentistry With A New Standard For Patient Care

Dental Exam

A comprehensive examination where all aspects of your oral health are evaluated. We assess your vulnerability to tooth decay and gum disease, and provide you with a gentle preventive screening for any early signs of oral cancer.

We also check your bite and the relationship between your upper and lower jaws, looking for any signs of disorder that could lead to more serious conditions, including recurrent headaches and migraines.

Intraoral radiography is used, as necessary, for diagnosis of early interdental carious lesions and/or secondary caries in current restorations.

We demonstrate proper brushing and interdental cleaning techniques and coach you on how to improve and maintain your oral health.

Tooth Extractions

Whether it’s a wisdom tooth or a tooth that had trauma, we will do everything we can to make this treatment as comfortable as possible.

Our dentists may determine that you need a tooth extraction for various reasons. Some teeth are extracted because they are severely decayed; others may have advanced periodontal disease or have broken in a way that cannot be repaired. Other teeth may need removal because they are poorly positioned in the mouth (such as impacted teeth), or in preparation for orthodontic treatment.

The removal of a single tooth can lead to issues relating to your chewing ability, your jaw joint and shifting teeth, which may have a major impact on your dental health. To avoid these complications, our dentists will discuss alternatives to extractions as well as replacement options for the missing tooth.

An appointment with one of our hygienists could also help improve your teeth and avoid extractions in future.

Fillings & Crowns

Fillings

Fillings are made to restore the function and aesthetic of the damaged tooth structure. This kind of structural loss typically results from tooth decay or external trauma. We use composite resin materials, which are “tooth-coloured” and are artistically built to match the exact shade and form of natural teeth.

Crowns

A crown is required to restore lost or weakened tooth structure and reproduce its natural form, shade and function. Several types of materials are used to produce crowns, such as porcelain, eMax, resin and metals. In general, crowns reinforced by certain substructures like zirconia tend to have a long life expectancy, especially if correctly indicated and produced.

Inlays & Onlays

As well as conventional fillings, we can also provide you with an inlay or onlay. Inlays and onlays are a form of indirect restoration made by a dental technician in a dental laboratory.

If you have a larger filling, or perhaps a broken cusp on a tooth, we may want to consider a porcelain inlay or onlay. These restorations are a simple and effective treatment and, in some cases, are an excellent alternative to a complete porcelain crown.

  • An inlay is used in a similar way to a traditional filling but looks much more genuine. Inlays are used to repair the large chewing surface of a back tooth and to mend larger cavities where a conventional filling wouldn’t be strong enough. Often, inlays may replace traditional fillings that failed or fell out, since they are more durable.
  • An onlay is similar to an inlay, just a little larger. An onlay is necessary for a significant reconstruction, where it extends out over one or more cusps of the tooth. Onlays can repair a cavity right in the central part of the chewing surface, as well as one or more of the tooth cusps.
