General Dentistry With A
New Standard For Patient Care.

An appointment with our dental hygienists in Chelsea includes detailed oral hygiene instruction with a demonstration of brushing and flossing techniques. Practical tips are also divulged on how to make an effective daily cleaning routine, making the most of your time and effort. We will tailor the appointment to you, highlighting any areas where your oral hygiene could be improved.

We believe in Guided Biofilm Therapy, the latest scientific advancement in dental hygiene therapy. This is a technique designed to ensure optimal cleaning without any surface abrasion to your teeth. It involves placing indicator dye on your teeth, to highlight plaque to remove it with gentle cleaning and coating your teeth in a protective paste before you leave the appointment.

Depending on the level of gum disease detected, more than one appointment may be required. Our dentists and hygienists can treat periodontitis which may require deeper cleaning than a typical hygiene appointment.

It is essential that you continue taking care of your smile at home through consistent oral hygiene. Good dental hygiene includes a number of daily habits and practices that help to keep your smile healthy and bright.

Cosmetic Restorative Dentist

A comprehensive examination where all aspects of your oral health are evaluated. We assess your vulnerability to tooth decay & gum disease and provide you with a gentle preventive screening for any early signs of oral cancer.

We also check your bite and the relationship between your upper and lower jaws, looking for any signs of disorder that could lead to more serious conditions including recurrent headaches and migraines.

Intraoral radiography is used, as necessary, for diagnosis of early interdental carious lesions and/or secondary caries at current restorations.

We demonstrate proper brushing and flossing techniques and coach you on how to improve and maintain your oral health.

Root canal therapy can save a tooth that has become severely infected or decayed. When diagnosis indicates the need for a root canal treatment, our first priority is our clients' peace of mind.

Offering an extensive menu of pain-management options, our first order of business is to ensure that our clients are at-ease about the procedure. Our experts make root canal therapy as relaxing as possible.

Whether it’s a wisdom tooth or a tooth that had trauma, we will do everything we can to make this treatment as painless and forgettable as possible.

Our dentists may determine that you need a tooth extraction for various reasons. Some teeth are extracted because they are severely decayed; others may have advanced periodontal disease or have broken in a way that cannot be repaired. Other teeth may need removal because they are poorly positioned in the mouth (such as impacted teeth), or in preparation for orthodontic treatment.

The removal of a single tooth can lead to issues related to your chewing ability, your jaw joint, and shifting teeth, which may have a major impact on your dental health. To avoid these complications our dentists will discuss alternatives to extractions, as well as replacement options of the extracted tooth.

Filings are made to restore the function, morphology and aesthetic of damaged tooth structure. The structural loss typically results from caries or external trauma. We use composite resin materials, which are “tooth-coloured” and are artistically built to match the exact shade and form of natural teeth.

If you have a larger filling, or perhaps a broken cusp on a tooth, we may want to consider a porcelain inlay or onlay. These restorations are a simple and effective treatment, and in some cases are an excellent alternative to a complete porcelain crown.

At American Smile we offer inlays and onlays if you have damage or tooth decay within the cusp of a tooth. An inlay is used similarly to a traditional filling, but looks much more genuine. An onlay is necessary for a significant reconstruction, where it extends out over one or more cusps of the tooth. Often, inlays may replace traditional fillings that failed or fell out, since they are more durable.

A crown is required to restore lost or weakened tooth structure and reproduce its natural form, shade and function. There are several types of materials to produce crowns like porcelain, eMax, resin, and metals. In general, crowns reinforced by certain substructures like zirconia tend to have a long life expectancy, especially if correctly indicated and produced.
